South and Scott Students Skype About Books!!!!

This week the “Sharon Flake’ book club members were treated to a video chat with their counterparts at Scott Middle School. Book club members from each school read and discussed books by award-winning novelist Sharon Flake to prepare for her visit to South Brandywine and Scott Middle Schools this past November. One of the activities planned after Sharon Flake’s visit to each school was for these students to meet via a Skype video conference. During the Skype video call, Scott and South Brandywine students excitedly exchanged thoughts about the books they read and their impressions of Ms. Flake’s author visit. When asked if they would like to organize a book club between the two schools that would meet periodically throughout the rest of the school year, the answer was an enthusiastic “YES”! Thanks to Reading Specialists Ms. Johnson at Scott Middle School, Ms. McKee and Ms. Mochulski at South Brandywine and Library Media Specialists Mrs. Kuhn, SBMS, and Mrs. Barnes, Scott Middle, for making the video conference a big success.
